Take a Virtual Tour of DC’s Black Broadway

Coming up on August 13 from 1 – 2:00 pm

Before chain coffeeshops and luxury high-rises, before desegregation and the 1968 riots, Washington’s Greater U Street was known as Black Broadway. From the early 1900s into the 1950s, African Americans built what was often described as a “city within a city.” During this Black Broadway virtual experience you will visit the area’s oldest landmarks, view one-of-a-kind murals, meet notable history makers, sightsee 100-year old theaters, and learn about the Jazz and Cultural Renaissance that paved the way for today’s most famous African American successes, educators, musicians, talents, and heroes.
