Explore, Connect, Thrive This Fall!

Enjoy these wonderful opportunities for exploration and connection right in our own backyard!

On Saturday, September 28, discover the legacy of environmental pioneer Rachel Carson, who wrote her landmark book, Silent Spring, at her home in Silver Spring, MD. We will first tour Carson’s home, then we’ll take a walk along the trail the Carson herself loved.

But that’s just the beginning! Enjoy the great outdoors in November and December, where we’ll search for migratory birds and signs of wildlife at the C&O Canal and Seneca Creek State Park.

Each walk will be led by our dedicated naturalist, Marianne Starr, who brings her passion for nature and learning to every outing. Engaging in these activities stimulates your mind and encourages social interaction, both of which are key to maintaining brain health.

And there’s more: don’t miss the chance to savor a unique private tour of the Kreeger Museum and a guided bus tour of our county’s Majestic Champion Trees. These experiences not only enrich our understanding of art and nature but also provide valuable opportunities for cognitive engagement.

These activities offer the perfect chance to embrace the beauty of fall while fostering connections within our community. I encourage you to join us for these enriching experiences that will keep you young at heart and mind!
