Giving Back:

A Win-Win for All!

In a world where we often feel pulled in many directions, it can be easy to overlook the importance of giving back to our communities. Yet, simple acts of kindness, such as volunteering your time or sharing your resources, have the power to create lasting positive change.

Volunteering is not only a way to give back, but it also brings a sense of fulfillment and connection. For the past several years, Oasis has been providing opportunities for you to volunteer with your peers at local nonprofits that serve our community such as Manna, Comfort Cases and A Wider Circle. These volunteer events are well attended and we see many of you signing up time and time again to give back in this way. As we continue to offer these volunteer opportunities, we invite you to share any ideas you have for local non-profits who could use Oasis volunteers.

Washington Metro Oasis also relies on the skills and generosity of our many internal volunteers who give of their time in a variety of roles.  From staffing the front desk at our center, to tutoring children, to moderating our online classes, these volunteers keep the operations of Oasis running smoothly for the benefit of our wider community.  At this time, we are especially in need of additional volunteers to serve on our program committee. You can learn more about this volunteer opportunity here or by contacting Janice Pliner.

Another way of giving back is by sharing your resources through a monetary donation.  As a non-profit organization, the generous financial support of our donors is essential to keeping Oasis programs alive and strong in the community. Oasis is proud to offer many of our programs for free to the community such as the Fall Prevention and Driver Safety Series that were both offered this fall.  Your support will allow us to continue to offer programs such as these for free, so that they are accessible to everyone in the community, regardless of income.  The next time you sign up for a free class, consider including a donation with your registration. Even small donations, when combined, can have a major impact.

As we look to build stronger, more resilient communities, remember that every contribution matters. Whether you’re donating a few hours of your time or making a financial gift, your efforts help shape a better world for all of us. Thank you for your generosity!
