Become an Oasis Tutor!

As an Oasis participant, we know you have a passion for lifelong learning.  When was that curiosity and thirst for knowledge sparked in you?  For many of us, there was a teacher, parent or other adult in our life who, at an early age, inspired us to learn and discover more. For more than 30 years now, Oasis Intergenerational Tutors have been paying it forward by guiding and inspiring local students through 1:1 tutoring. As we gear up for the new school year, we are seeking additional tutors to join our team and help make a difference in the lives of children in our community.

Oasis Intergenerational Tutoring is a literacy based mentorship program that matches older adult volunteers with students in local elementary schools to build reading skills, self-esteem and positive attitudes toward learning. Oasis provides our tutors with training, resources for your tutoring sessions, workshops throughout the year, and the camaraderie of your fellow tutors.

New tutor training for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year will be held on August 27 and September 19.  If you are interested, contact Oasis Tutor Coordinator, Kathleen McDaniel, 3-4 weeks in advance of the training session so she can guide you through the onboarding/screening process.
