We’re excited to share with you that Washington Metro Oasis was selected to receive the Montgomery County Commission on Aging’s (CoA) Community for a Lifetime award for 2023. The CoA seeks to enable older adults in Montgomery County to live quality lives, regardless of their abilities, income levels, and backgrounds.  The award recognizes outstanding service and innovative programming to the older adult community in Montgomery County.  We are so honored to be recognized by the county in this way and our staff is looking forward to receiving this award on Thursday at the Holiday Park Senior Center.

We know, however, that everything we do as an organization would not be possible without YOU, our dedicated and ever-curious participants and volunteers.  You make Oasis the special community that it is and have kept us going strong in Montgomery County for 30 years.  We want to especially highlight in this newsletter, the volunteers who have given their time to work at Manna Food Center, Comfort Cases and A Wider Circle over this past year.  These three local non-profits provide innumerous benefits to our community and have welcomed groups of Oasis volunteers to help them continue their missions. We’re excited to continue our collaboration with these groups in the coming year and invite you to volunteer your time and experience the joy of helping others.

Whether through volunteering, joining a discussion group or taking a class, we hope that you’ll include Oasis in your plans for learning and connecting throughout the new year.  Registration is open for our 2024 programs and space is filling up quickly in some of our classes with limited enrollment.

We also hope that you’ll help us spread the word about Oasis to your family, friends and neighbors.  We are happy to put a catalog in the mail for any prospective participants.

As 2023 comes to a close, we wish all of you a joyful holiday season and a happy and healthy new year ahead.
